JOSH ROBINSON

PRINCIPAL

Josh Robinson is delighted to have set up the company Encore Choirs, alongside his partner Gemma Ford and working with one of his closest friends, Joe Peall.

Josh has been working in professional choirs over the last two years, building a great rapport with the members for the company he was working for. Since the company came to an end after its long run, he decided it was the right time to take his experience to a new level, by setting up his very own choirs that are suitable for all voice types, and to give a new experience to group singing. He is delighted that many of his previous members have followed him and joined Encore Choirs for a new and fresh experience. Josh will be leading both choirs as well as overseeing the running of the company and is so thankful to his partner, Gemma, who has has helped him to set up this company, and he wants to thank her for being there for him always. Josh also wants to pay a massive thanks to Ryan Stevens for his wonderful artwork and website, head on over to StevensSignage for more of his creations and to Joe Peall for his music expertise.

Josh is an infectiously enthusiastic voice teacher & vocal coach. His passion for voice began when singing in his secondary school choir, wanting to know why and how we make the sounds that we do. Years down the line, Josh studied a Voice Studies & Performing Arts programme at The University of Winchester. This training explored the practises of voice from different models and methods from around the world. Josh has therefore studied with well-acclaimed specialist-voice teachers and taken from this a wide range of tools that fit best purpose for individual needs of the student, group or teacher.
Josh has always studied the arts, passing his A-levels (BTEC QUALIFICATION) in Musical Theatre and in Music with Distinction and Merits across the board. He studied Piano, Trumpet and Singing as extra lessons outside of school, achieving a Grade Eight certificate in singing with London College of Music (LCM ~ Musical Theatre).
After his completion of his A-Levels Josh went on to perform in various venues across the county, these titles include; Winchester Cathedral, Leeds Cathedral, Birmingham Conservatoire, Bamberg, Berlin and performing in front of 25,000 people on the main stage arena at the biggest vintage Jazz Festival ‘Twinwoods’ in Bedfordshire in 2017.

As well as teaching, Josh has had an abundance of experience as a performer, some of his acting roles explored are; Tinman (The Wizard of Oz), Fagin (Oliver!), Beast (Beauty and the Beast) and Truffaldino (The Servant to Two Masters). Josh has also appeared in a 2008’s television commercial Birdseye with lead singer Suggs from ‘Madness’.
Josh has also worked as a Musical Director, these works include Performing Arts Winchester’s productions of Anything Goes (2017) and Sister Act (2018), in which were award-winning.
Josh is a member of The Association of Teachers of Singing (AOTOS) and the British Voice Association (BVA) in where he follows the most current knowledge of the voice and gets involved in practical and non-practical work!
